Extruded Color Magic Friday October 2nd
Learn how to use a polymer clay extruder to create several different patterns including a retro-cane. Strategies for maximizing color contrasts, stacking the colors and playing with the extrusions will be presented. You will choose between several different options: including earth pastels, rainbow brights and near neutrals to orchestrate a successful dynamic color scheme Using the core adapter, you will explore making several different versions of tube beads that may be incorporated into a bracelet or necklace design. You will then use your cane to make a memory wire bracelet.
Color Magic- “Quilted” Polymer Poetry Saturday &Sunday October 3rd &4th
Remember those magnetic poetry sets that were all the rage several years ago on refrigerators across the country? Using the Tumbling Blocks quilt pattern as inspiration, you will make a colorful set of poetic polymer clay tiles that can be infinitely rearranged on a magnetic board. These pieces will allow you to explore different color combinations; while examining first hand the importance of value contrast and spice notes in a color scheme.
As an artist one of the most direct ways to impart voice and message to your work is to make confident, intentional color choices. Through a series of guided exercises you will explore the power of intention as it applies to making confident color choices...while having fun making an array of tiles to use on your changeable color board.
Different strategies for incorporating words with polymer clay will be presented along with possibilities for surface treatments.
