July 4-10, 2010 at Common Ground on the Hill in Westminster, MD

Common Ground on the Hill celebrates 16 years gathering as a multicultural community of musicians, artists, writers, lecturers, actors, and dancers, sharing skills with students of all ages and with one another. In this way, we believe that we can improve ourselves, our communities and our world as we meet, share and celebrate our arts and cultures on "common ground." www.commongroundonthehill.org

Lenora will teach a polymer clay sampler course from 9-11:45 am, M-F. There are hundreds of other class offerings during the three afternoon periods, evening concerts, gallery talks, dances, and jamming. Accomodations vary from standard dormitory to apartment-style suites with kitchennettes and shared baths.

Students will learn a variety of techniques for handling this versatile medium. Students with previous experience with polymer clay will work on projects of their choice with the instructor's assistance.

Day 1 - basic conditioning, color mixing, blends, textures and stamps.
Day 2 - millefiore (Venetian glass technique transferred to polymer clay)
Day 3 - mokume gane (Japanese metal working technique transferred to polymer clay)
Day 4 - using polymer clay with other media - what works and what doesn't; using jewelry findings with polymer clay; faux stone looks.
Day 5 - project work to finish everything that students have started earlier in the week, to be ready for wearable art fashion show.
