Due to the overwhelming response to our last Designer Challenge, AMACO (American Art Clay Company) and event coordinator Lisa Pavelka
are pleased to announce a repeat of the January 2007 Bottle of Hope
Designer Challenge.
80 clay covered bottles were submitted in less than a month's time for the previous designer challenge; the first open to the public.
Twenty-five finalists were selected by the Indianapolis Polymer ClayGuild in . The finalist's entries were displayed at the AMACO booth
throughout the January/February CHA (Craft and Hobby Association)convention in , earlier this year. A gala award reception was held
at the show. Final judging was conducted by magazine editors, media representatives and designers in the crafts industry.
Pavelka modeled the challenge after the internationally renowned grass roots program founded by cancer survivor, Gregoire. This
program brings hope and support by the gifting of polymer clay covered bottles to cancer patients, survivors, family members and
friends. Bottles are always given and never sold. All bottles
submitted will be donated to cancer patients. Finalist and winning bottles will be retained for an indefinite period to help raise
awareness for the program before being donated.
Donations on behalf of each winning designer were made by AMACO, to the cancer charity of their choice. Winners also received AMACO
gift certificates for free product and engraved plaques with a depiction of their entry.
The deadline for the next challenge is May 1, 2007. Anyone may enter as many bottles as they like (a separate entry form must accompany
each submission). Preliminary judging for the 25 finalists will once
again be made by the Indianapolis Polymer Clay Guild. Only one bottle per designer will be eligible to become a finalist. For
