The Polymer Arts Magazine Provides Instruction, Insight, and Inspiration for the Professional and Aspiring Polymer Clay Artist
AURORA, Colorado. July 23, 2011—The premier issue of The Polymer Arts magazine will go to print in August of 2011. This new magazine has been created to provide the polymer clay artist, as well as enthusiasts, collectors, and galleries, the kind of information that will encourage innovation and support of the art world’s youngest and most versatile medium.
In recent years accomplished and innovative polymer clay art work has been making its way into esteemed galleries and national museums. However, a perception that polymer clay is an amateur art material still persists. Unlike other fine art mediums, polymer clay has not had an industry specific periodical documenting the high caliber of work and trends in the community, until now.

Spring has sprung,
The grass has riz,
I wonder where the polymer clay classes is?
I know that much of the country is blanketed in snow right now, but here in Tallahassee we're enjoying clear skies, low humidity and temperatures into the low 70's! The warm weather was welcome after a freezing few days in Baltimore during the Synergy conference. I'm leaving again next week for the Orlando Clay Fandango Retreat Experience. Whew!
Polymerclayworkshops.com has been buzzing right along with the bees and we're starting to see class postings from near and far.

In her first volume in this series, you will feel like youve visited far away places as Dayle Doroshow introduces you to transfers, caning and antiquing of clay all inspired by foreign and ancient cultures. Dayle talks about where to look for shape and color inspiration; from art galleries to museums, books to fabrics.
This DVD will take the beginner through the basics and enlighten the advanced clayer with different types of transfers. Dayle also covers stamping techniques and even a simple flower cane to make beads inspired by fabrics of the Provence region. From toner copy transfers, colored pencil and even a Sharpie transfer, you will begin to see how you will find ways to use modern methods to create pieces that look as if they have been dug up from some archeological site. Shaping your shards by just running a ball of clay through your pasta machine to create rough and crusty edges is another way that Dayle gives her pieces that old world feel. And what fun it is to rub paint all over your pieces to antique them. Getting ones hands and fingers all covered in paint is something that everyone should experience! This is a great DVD for clayers interested in different types of transfers as this is what she mainly focuses on in this volume. The gallery section of Dayles work gives more inspiration as you let your mind wander to the Provence region of southern France. Submitted by Barbara Fajardo http://www.rubarbdesertdesigns.com/
Thank you to
the National Polymer Clay Guild for providing the DVD for review. |
