It's a new year and the Pittsburgh Polymer Clay Guild is off and running with several exciting announcements.  If you have not yet heard, our co-founder and former guild president Connie Donaldson is the new editor of PolymerCAFE.  If you have ever considered submitting your artwork for publication, this is the perfect opportunity.  We wish Connie all the best!

In January precious metal clay artist Donna Penoyer held a two-day PMC workshop for our members.  Because of the positive response to this workshop, our guild has purchased a Paragon SC2 kiln.  Now our guild members will be able to incorporate PMC in their polymer creations.

Our co-president Marla Frankenberg will be teaching her Marlafiori workshop on March 15th and 16th at the Stephen Foster Community Center in Lawrenceville.

Skip the showers and get straight to the flowers (and ferns!) with innovative techniques that make caning easy, fast and fun. Marla's work can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/marlafrankenberg/ The cost for this workshop is $135 for PPCG members and $150 for non-members. For the third time, April brings together PPCG and the Pittsburgh Book Arts Collective.  Our collaborative meetings have resulted in unique and cherished works. At this event we will be creating a sculptural book with a focus on surface techniques. The meeting will be held at Stephen Foster on Sunday April 13th.

The seventh annual PPCG retreat is set for October 17th through the 19th, 2008. We are returning to Lutherlyn in Prospect, PA for the second time. The beauty of autumn is inspiring in this woodland setting, and the food is great!

November opens with a huge event for our group. As part of our mission to inform people and promote the medium of polymer clay, we will be holding our first gallery show, Polymer Clay Journey, November 1st through the 15th, at Planet Art Gallery in Mt. Lebanon, PA. Details on submitting your artwork will follow.

The guild now has a new website with a new name. To stay informed about meetings, workshops, retreats and other events in our busy schedule, check us out at www.polymerclayintheburgh.org , or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
