Polymer clay classes at Peoria Art Guild PDF Print E-mail

I've finalized details with the Peoria Art Guild to offer polymer clay classes at the beginner and intermediate level.  Classes start on January 8 and run 4 weeks each, Jan. 8 - 29, and Feb 5 - 26.  Advanced classes for millefiore jewelry are in the planning stages for the spring or summer.

Here's the schedule and class descriptions:

Beginner Polymer Clay Class:

Monday morning: 10am - 12:30pm;  Monday evening, 6:30pm - 9pm.

This class will introduce students to polymer clay jewelry.  Techniques include: textures and ghost images, creating and using millefiore canes, forming bails and bezels, sanding and polishing, using liquid clay and epoxy resin, and the Skinner Blend.  Students will learn how to form focal and accent beads in a variety of shapes, as well as tiles for bracelets, earrings, barrettes and necklaces.  Each week students will complete one wearable project in class.

Intermediate Polymer Clay Class:

Monday evening, 6:30 - 9pm, Feb. 5 - 26.

This class builds on the techniques taught in the Beginner Polymer Clay Class.  Intermediate techniques covered are:  creating complex millefiore canes, layering canework, hollow forms, faux stone and wood, and encasing foils in translucent clays.  Students will learn how to fomr rattle pendants, inro, foiled beads, and bangle bracelets.

Both levels of classes will be ongoing from session to session throughout the year, with themes alternating between jewelry, home decor, and gifts.

Marlafiori Class in St. Augustine PDF Print E-mail

I will be teaching a one-day Marlafiori class in just a few weeks, on Monday, December 11th, in St. Augustine, Florida. The class will be held at the bead chick, which is a terrific bead shop in town, from ten to four. Peggy Ward, the owner of the bead chick, will have all the supplies you'll need (along with some you probably didn't even know you needed!), and we'll have lots of space to work right in the shop.

We will be starting off with some flower canes, and we'll go on from there. I will be showing how I do my jewelry, and I'll be bringing some of my own canes for students to use if they want to, so everyone will be able to leave with something to show off at home.

You can contact Peggy through the store's website, http://www.beadchickrugs.com/ or email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
