With a unique approach to cane construction, this “Marlafiori” workshop packs loads of innovative caning techniques into two days. Flower canes can be simple or wildly complex, but with these techniques, they don’t have to be tedious to make. The workshop starts with basics and moves well beyond, to Marla’s unique smock-and-pooch maneuver and the Skinner blend bypass. These techniques are used to make flowers, leaves, ferns, and her signature dotty cane. Included are techniques for perfect finishing, without sanding or buffing.

Some say that Mokume Gane rhymes with “play with clay all day” and that is exactly what we will be doing for two days in this fun, fast paced survey of this excitingly versatile technique. You will learn valuable tricks and tips while making four different brooch styles that feature-Haunani- gane, Roche-gane, Amt-gane, Wavy-gravy gane (unfortunately NOT a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavor) and ‘end-of-the day gane”. Please visit http://www.gapcguild.com/specialevents.html for more details. |
